About the Event

One Journey brings back its popular Employment Speed Mentoring & Mini-Job Fair for skilled refugees and other displaced people in the DC metro area on Saturday, Nov 13, 2-4pm.

In their home countries, many refugees were highly skilled professionals with good careers. But after bringing their families to America to escape violence and persecution, many find themselves stuck in low-paying jobs or unemployed. “This is why we created this popular event,” says Wendy Chan, co-founder of One Journey. “We designed it to help refuge job seekers build their job search skills, explore career options in their areas of expertise, and network with local professionals and employers.”

Refugee job seekers will have opportunities to consult with professionals from businesses in their original fields and then meet to recruiters from major companies like Amazon and IFC/World Bank.

“Careers To Match Your Skills” is free to all, and hosted in collaboration with several local resettlement agencies and Upwardly Global. The outdoors event will be hosted on the grounds of the Washington International School's Tregaron Campus and will follow the CDC Covid-19 guidelines.
